Summer - Wild and Fresh

For my scond entery I took a different percpective on the definition of what wild and fresh could mean. I came up with the thought that fresh could be new seasons coming and all the things you havent been able to do in the previous 3 seasons. Taking this into account I've tried to capture summer. Also taking the defintion of wild in a diffent sense, taking photographs of a night out in clubs and pubs. I have used black and white throughout this set of photographs as monochrome is symbollic of past times as family old photographs are mostly monochrome.

The headband the girl is having fun dressing up with is summery because summer is a very happy season where people take things less seriously. I feel I have captured this aspect well in the image. The soft light created by the shelter of trees and their shadows makes the image bright without bleaching out detail. The shallow depth of field draws the attention to the subject's activity. However next time I should work on the bleached out detail by some of the sun such as the arm. The composition works really well with where i have positioned the head in the corner. The use of black and white gives a past time happy family feel which often lingures in summer months.

Again the care-free happy attitude captured in this image symbolises summer. Also i felt the sunglasses were an important aspect to capture as these too as very summery. This composition works well becasue of the face is captured in the corner of the frame giving the illusion the model is bent over with happiness and laughter. The background is built up with brightly multi-tonal trees (again another symbol of summer). I feel I should maybe experiment with landscapes on a summer day to express this summer idea. However I feel this way equally gives out the summer impression.

The condensation on the cup captures the thirst that you constantly feel in summer and the need for cool drinks like this. The angle I took the photograph with was right on the floor, this captures another aspect of summer, just laying in the grass. The flip flop placed in the background is another summery feature.

Alchoscape
By Annabel Clifton

The light captured off the bottles is effective and gives an "at night" feeling adding to the wild essence. If done again i feel i couls get more bottles in to get a chaos atmosphere with the crowding. This is my least favoiourite image, I feel it's a bit bland.

Beer Goggles

Part of my wild on a night out photographs this one captures the alcohol's effect that often make some people's nights more wilder than they would have been otherwards. With this image I've focused though two empty glasses resembling two eyes after the two glasses of alcohol has been emptied. Here you can see the image of the model changes, resulting in bad realisations in the morning. However i think i should have paid more attention to what was in the frame. More table would have worked better I think than more ceiling.

Dance floor
By Annabel Clifton

This candid shot works well with this type of image as people would be too self conscious to dance properly and really show the atmosphere. The composition of the hand and the light to fill the negative space works really well, also the people facing the other way creates a sense of lots of people dancing.

When Jug Met Straw
By Annabel Clifton

On the night out I tried to capture the little idiosyncrasies of the night that would make an interesting photograph and capture the wilder parts. Here the two girls are drinking from a jug out of straws. The composition is good as the jug is the main focus. The expressions are slightly mischiefivous which I like about this shot. However if i was doing this picture again I would try different angles and place the jug in different places in the frame to make it more interesting.

Take Two: Dance floor

Another candid shot that went really well. I captured the laughing, singing and dancing on the dance floor. Next time to improve this shot I could put it on a lower shutter speed to create blurred dancing.

To healthy livers (Results Toast)
By Annabel Clifton

Here I capture the results day toast to good results. I like this way of capturing this as it it's not always clear what it's about. I think this would be more sucessful if it was landscape instead.

The sillhouette of the people around gives a nice feeling of being in a crowd watching. And the lighting's quiet soft so features aren't there.

Really like how it's central and a good pose with nice colours.

Silhouettes are also nice here giving being in a crowd feeling again. Also love the colours captured.

The lady in the ring of fire, with lighting is very nice. Good angle on it too.

I love the messiness of this and how it lights up the whole frame.

Lighting is very effective here how the lightning is captured. However a bit blurry and would be nice if I'd have had a tripod at hand to get the right shot.
